Okonomiyaki

Quite excited to read the newsletter in the latest box and see a recipe for Okonomiyaki—a Japanese pancake/omelette type dish. Having just come back from a week in Japan and having no other immediate use for all the cabbage in the box I made it. The recipe is basically cabbage and leeks coated in egg and flour then fried; the similarity with Okonomiyaki I've had in Japan or restaurants here is slim but that probably because I didn't smother it in mayonnaise, sauce and dried fish flakes—it was still pretty tasty though and I think I'll make it again.
Other than that the box was more squash, greens, bok choy, oranges and pears.

Oh yum! I love Okonomiyaki! I have a recipe on my blog (http://inmybox.wordpress.com/2007/12/04/napa-cabbage/) and I would be curious to know how they compare. Make mine next time! Oh, me! Me! =)

Are you still getting a box from Capay? How's it going? We stopped ours for a while due to more intensive meal planning & the usual lettuce overload, but I am hoping to start up again soon.

Yours looks more like a real okonomiyaki - mine was more like a spannish omelette. I'll definitely give it a try!

We switched to the 'mostly fruit' box, bi-weekly, which is working out well so far. Will write about that soon.
